Student Gender OSSE has received questions from LEAs about student gender data, • specifically allowing for a “non-binary” option OSSE was not aware prior to this week that some LEAs will be • collecting “non-binary” values for student gender in SY2019-20 Federal reporting requirements from U.S. Department of Education • require student gender to be reported as “male”, “female”, or “X” OSSE will be discussing this matter internally prior to the release of • the next year’s data template 8
