Student Experience: Ace’s Jr. Chef Competition Northwest ISD’s Food Service Department encouraged elementary school students to use their creativity to develop an original, healthy recipe. • Abigail Delicati won the 2018 competition with “Strawberry Whip Cream Banana Muffins.” Her recipe will be featured April 19 on the elementary school breakfast and lunch menu. • She will win an Ace Cooking Kit and a copy of the 2018 Ace Cookbook. All students who entered the competition received the 2018 Ace Cookbook, a collection of this year’s submissions. 4

Student Experience: Aramark Lone Star Chef • Aramark’s Lone Star Regional Chef Competition brings together culinary arts students from 15 Aramark school districts across Texas to showcase their culinary skills. • Emily Claire Peden, Hayden Jones and Alex Schmucker placed Fourth • In April, we will feature their winning dish at the High School Home Zone line as a premium meal and we will show case it at the NISD Food Show. 5

  6. Community Support • Fill The Bus – Collected approximately 17,324 pounds this school year. Roanoke ES collected 5,600 lbs . • Reindeer Romp – Aramark provided bottle water and healthy snacks to participants. We also had Aramark team members participant in the event. • Angel Tree – This year, we supported one of our employees and her family who lost all their belongings in a fire just before Christmas. 6

  7. Increased Local Produce • Texas Department of Agriculture honored NISD with the Best of the Bunch Award . Less than 10% of school districts in the state reached this level of achievement. • NISD is partnering with FarmLogic to help source Texas produce. 7

  8. Northwest ISD Food Show Food Show April 19 4:30 – 6:30 PM Byron Nelson HS • You are invited to learn more about the NISD Food Service Program. ViewPoint Survey • 44% of all NISD secondary students completed this year’s survey. Survey results are used to help evolve and grow our program. 8

What’s New? • Weekly Safety POD cast for kitchen employees • Digital menus at middle schools coming soon • Providing Healthy Snacks to the NISD after school day care • Made-To-Order Taco Bar and Baked Potato Bar at all Middle Schools • Fruit & Veggie Bars at all high schools • Expanded Discover Days to all grade levels 9

Community Partner Sponsorships • Provided breakfast and premium lunch meals for the two‐day Strategic Planning Summit for students, parents, community members and educators. • Support Northwest Education Foundation luncheons. Work Force Planning • 100% staffed on our hourly positions • 11% turnover rate YTD, industry average is 60% • Once a month, we conduct hands-on training for new employees prior to starting in their home kitchen • Offer sign-on and referral bonuses • In January, all employees received a market adjustment pay increase • Continue to monitor the pay and benefits of the local area; expanding to stay competitive • Employee awards are posted on social media and in a printed newsletter 12

Participation Growth • Premium Combo Meal – Launched in October – Incorporated many raw meats and scratch cooking recipes – Increased high school meals by 200 per service day • A La Carte Items – Re-evaluated a la carte prices and increased some prices Homemade Salisbury Steak, a regular combo meal entrée, and baked chicken wings, a premium combo meal – Increased high school a la carte offerings • Increasing Online Options – Pilot an online POD at Steele Accelerated HS Mexican Lasagna, a regular combo meal entrée, and 13 brisket, a premium combo meal

  14. Breakfast Growth • National School Breakfast Week celebration increased breakfast participation by 1,714 additional breakfast meals • At high schools, we introduced a weekly “Build Your Own Breakfast Taco” • Seeking to pilot a breakfast cart by May 14
