Opening a vocational shop Some typical items to double check • Appropriate and visible signage throughout shop • Safety data sheet holders and signs • First aid kit holders and signs • Emergency power shut off signs • Fire Blankets with signs stating “Stop, Drop and Roll” • No parking sign on all overhead doors • Line painting on the floor in front of electrical panels • Flammable cabinet installed as needed and verified by local fire department • Confirm shops are fully accessible
Opening a vocational shop Some typical items to double check • Overhead doors must be tested, check the auto stop • No Parking Signs placed on exterior of overhead door • Dust collectors certified for decibel level • Overhead gantry crane certified for safety • Chain across ladder on mezzanine with sign “No Storage” • Shelves (no wheels) and bookcases must be lagged together and to wall • Check ECC playground perimeter to prevent fall hazards, remove openings too large, and do not use rocks/gravel to avoid possible choking hazard
