  17. 1. Duration The 5-day course spans over 5 days and 4nights. More 2. Intensity about the The 5-day course experience is set in an outdoor 5-day course environment with activities conducted in all in OBS weather conditions, over prolonged durations in the day. 3. Journey-Based Concept It is designed to allow for self-propelled/self- sufficient journey which allow opportunities for students learn to overcome physical and mental challenges, while taking ownership through involvement in responsible planning and decision-making. Students will travel with their group from campsite to campsite with an OBS Instructor.

  20. Pre-Course Medical Examination  Your child will need to be certified fit by a medical doctor for the OBS Course. Priority on Why is there a need for medical examination?  To determine your child’s suitability for the Safety and course based on current and accurate health Well-Being status  To determine how best to provide a suitable level of care , especially for students with pre- existing conditions  To help parents/guardians make an informed decision on their child’s participation in the course based on current health status of child/ward

Conditions of Non-admission Epilepsy / fits / seizures – Any episodes within the last 2 1 years Unavoidable allergens resulting in severe allergic reaction – 2 e.g. traces of allergen, insect bites, unknown allergens 3 Thalassemia M ajor 4 Diabetes condition requiring Insulin injections Condition of 5 M itral valve prolapse with regurgitation Non- Condition(s) of Concern (applicants are encouraged to see their own admission + attending/ family doctor for the conditions listed below) 6 Breathing problem e.g. exercise induced asthma Condition(s) 7 Blood disorder e.g. anaemia of Concern 8 Severe obesity – Body M ass Index (BM I) above 35 Severe Behavioural and/ or psychological conditions e.g. 9 Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) / Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Any condition requiring administration of injections (by self 10 or with help) or medical equipment support – e.g. Epipen Any conditions that may impair movement and/or adversely 11 affect safety to self or others during the Course

Parents to note: * To facilitate the registration process, KCPSS will be Important making arrangement for your child to go through the Information pre-medical screening during the afternoons of Post- Exam Period on 16 & 17 October , 1 – 5pm. * KCPSS will borne the medical screening cost. Students who require to have tetanus vaccination are to pay the vendor directly. The cost of the vaccination is $33.51 . Alternatively, you may bring your child for the vaccination at any clinic before 16 Oct. * The Medical Examination Form (parents to declaration child’s health status) will be distributed on 2 Sep (Mon) must be submitted to school by 11 September 2019 (Wed) NOTE: Students who fail to abide to the stipulated deadline will not be put through the medical screening. They will have to make their own arrangement for the screening and bear the cost.

  23. NOTE: The medical team will need the record of your child’s vaccination record. The action taken by them will be as follows: 1. Medical screening cannot be passed 2. Medical team will administer the Tetanus Vaccination (payment required)

Y ou will be informed when your child/ ward requires further medical attention, e.g. sent out to clinic or hospital, instead of daily updates of your child/ ward during the course.
