  1. Interactive Community PTA General Meeting February 23, 2017 #smallschoolbigcity

  2. Why Become a Magnet? • Already on the WCPSS Magnet Application • Already attended WCPSS Magnet Recruiting Events and Meetings • Already received some Magnet Office funding • Already had an [unofficial] magnet theme: Small Class Size, High Parent Involvement • Already had a magnet priority pathway (Moore Square and Enloe) #smallschoolbigcity

  3. Interactive Community – How was it selected? • Timeline: One month to select the theme before recruiting events started • WCPSS Magnet Office gave us the flexibility for selecting our new theme, but it could not have an increased cost for implementation and it had to be approved by the Magnet Office. • A primary goal in the selection of the new theme was to start with Partnership’s unique characteristics and build upon them in new and innovative ways. • Partnership staff and PTA leaders researched possible themes and did market research. They then worked together to create a theme which built upon Partnership’s unique characteristics. #smallschoolbigcity

  4. What will continue? • Continue to serve all of Wake County as a primarily application based school • Small class sizes • Parent volunteering expectation of an average of 4 hours per month • Personalized Education Plans (PEPs) • Modified Year-Round Calendar • Continue to have a magnet priority pathway (Moore Square and Enloe) • Community service projects #smallschoolbigcity
