  1. HISER project Final conference Brussels 16 November 2018 Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood- polymer composites

  2. Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood-polymer composites Development of the recovery processes of C&DW wood and mineral wools Recovery concepts for C&D wood and mineral wool (both glass and stone wool) have been sketched out and crushing, refining and cleaning phases have been optimized based on the requirements needed for raw materials utilized in extruded composites. Different kinds of wood fractions were produced and tested: clean wood fraction, painted wood fraction, plywood fraction and particle/fibre board fraction Production of C&D wood and mineral wool fractions for extrusion tests.

  3. Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood-polymer composites

  4. Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood-polymer composites Development of extruded composites Overall over 50 formulations including different C&D wood fractions and C&D mineral wool were extruded to test bars, which mechanical properties were tested. The main findings were 1. In the most of the cases the mechanical performance of produced WPCs was at the good level compared to commercially available products. 2. Recovered C&DW material share > 60 % 3. The share of recovered material in WPCs can be 95 % (C&DW and recycled plastic) Formula optimization – case horse shed

  5. Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood-polymer composites Firewood shed Three different WPC-components 1. Solid roof panels 400 x 10 mm (no additional roof cover material was used in shed) 2. Hollow wall planks 120 x 28 mm 3. Solid structural planks 120 x 30 mm

  6. Recovery of C&D wood waste and use as raw material in wood- polymer composites Horse shed WPC Components 1. Solid roof panels 390 x 10 mm 2. Solid roof panels 390 x 5 mm 3. Solid wall planks 122 x 30 mm 4. Hollow wall planks 120 x 28 mm Other components 1. Steel frame 2. Thermal insulation (rock wool in between the inner and outer wall structure) Special requirement for wall planks • High mechanical performance for absorbing horse kicks without failure Execution: during nov – dec 2018
