  4. AP Seminar Assessments Students are assessed with: • 2 through-course performance tasks and • 1 end-of-course exam. All three assessments are summative and used to calculate a final AP score (using the 1 – 5 scale) for AP Seminar.

AP Seminar Performance Task 1: Team Project and Presentation — 20% of the AP Seminar Score Component Scoring Method Weight Individual Research College Board scored 50% of 20% Report (IRR) (1,200 words) Team Multimedia Teacher scored 50% of 20% Presentation (group score) and Defense (TMP) (8 – 10 minutes, plus defense questions) Recommended Completion Date: February 28 Submission Deadline: April 30, 11:59 p.m. ET

AP Seminar Performance Task 2: Individual Research-Based Essay and Presentation — 35% of AP Seminar Score Component Scoring Method Weight Individual Written College Board scored 70% of 35% Argument (IWA) (2,00 words) Individual Multimedia Teacher scored 20% of 35% Presentation (group score) (IMP) (6 – 8 minutes) Oral Defense (OD) Teacher scored 10% of 35% (two questions from the teacher) Recommended Completion Date: April 15 Submission Deadline: April 30, 11:59 p.m. ET

AP Seminar End-of-Course Exam (2 hours) — 45% of AP Seminar Score The exam consists of four items: • 3 short-answer questions that assess analysis of an argument in a single source or document. • 1 essay question that assesses students’ skills in synthesizing and creating an evidence-based argument.

AP Research Students learn how to:  Design, plan, and conduct a year-long mentored, research-based investigation  Apply research methods and practices to address a real-world topic selected by the student  Write a college-level research paper, present and orally defend the findings and research methodology AP Seminar is a prerequisite to AP Research .

AP Research Assessments Component Scoring Method Weight Academic Paper (AP) College Board scored 75% (4,000 – 5,000 words) Presentation and Oral Teacher scored 25% Defense (POD) (15 – 20 (group score) minutes total for presentation followed by three or four questions from a panel of three evaluators) There’s no end -of-course exam for AP Research. Recommended Completion Date: April 15 Submission Deadline: April 30, 11:59 p.m. ET
