Lunchtime Arrangements Lunch available for children who stay with us full-time: • School dinner (Harrison’s are our new caterers - @£2.30 per lunch – payable via Parentpay) – this will be free when the children are in reception, year 1 and year 2 • Or bring a packed lunch Eat lunch in the infant hall – own table and Little Cypress TAs supervise

  8. Key Worker • Continual care from home in routines – talk to the staff about toilet training • This will start from next week for nursery – books going home and please comment in the Reading Diary

  9. Wrap Around Care • Child care from 7.30am until 6pm • Managed by school leadership and staffed by our own directly employed workers • Continuity of care This is for Gold/Silver/Rainbow Children as well as reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at Lower and years 3 to 6 at Upper

  11. What will we be learning? The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is an experiential curriculum that will get our children “school ready” PSED Personal, Social and Emotional Development PD Physical Development CL Communication and Language

  12. What is phonics? Phonics is a way of teaching children to read quickly and skilfully. They are taught how to: • Recognise the sounds that each individual letter makes • Identify the sounds that different combinations of letters make • Blend (putting sounds together to read a word) • Segment (to aid the spelling of words)

Good books to read with your child: • Look for books that are predictable with a repetitive pattern • Stick to what they know • Pick books with a good balance of pictures and text • Look for books with rhyme and rhythm • Choose stories with familiar sequences • Seek out non fiction information books

What you can do to help • Introduce lower case letters first, only using capital letters where appropriate e.g. names • Be aware of your own pronunciation of the sounds • Try not to teach the letters in alphabetical order • Help your child to be confident with the vowel sounds. These sounds are often the most difficult to hear • Use the letter families (see hand out)
