Community College Requirements Must be 18 years old, or have a high school diploma (or equivalent) SAT/ACT is recommended for: • Placement in math and English • If you are planning on playing a sport • If you are applying for financial aid Can transfer to a university (TAG agreement) Visit different community colleges to find the best fit for you Tuition is $46 per unit • Full time is 12 units or 4 classes=$552 (not including books, parking, daily expenses) • AB19 Community Colleges: California Promise First-time student (enrolled in 12 or more units) and a CA resident are eligible for free tuition for the first year.
Applying to Community College ● Register online at www.losrios.edu (all local community colleges EXCEPT Sierra) to get your Student ID. ● Complete 3 Assessment/Placement tests ● (Make an appointment online or walk-in) ● Complete orientation session, then meet with counselor to choose classes ● You can apply in January! ● Go to the Financial Aid Office on the college campus ● Complete the above steps by March 1 so you can get the classes you want and be prepared to pay for those classes once you have registered.
Community College Options Transfer to “4” year College/University Career Programs & Certificates ● Length and kind of programs ● Talk to college counselor once vary per semester ● Less expensive than private ● Complete required course work vocational programs ● Earn a certain college GPA ● Examples of programs: ● 60 units of college level work Automotive Collision, ● There are Community Colleges Culinary, Speech/Language across the U.S. Assistant,Commercial Music, Biotechnology, Paralegal,Real Estate, and MANY more!

You will need to schedule an appointment with her during October 1-12.
Out of State Public Universities ● Go to the WUE (Western Undergraduate Exchange) website to see which participating out-of-state community colleges and universities are listed ● Check the GPA Requirements for each WUE college ● If you get a WUE scholarship you will pay only 1 ½ times in-state tuition ● That is a huge savings and some students pay less than attending a California public college/university ● Many out-of-state universities guarantee you will graduate in 4 years (more $$$ saved) ● Be open to looking outside of California to go to college

Attend a Lunchtime College Recommendation Letter workshop in the Library Backroom (we will walk through steps 5-10) October 9, October 11, October 17, October 18, November 6, November 7 ❖ At the Lunchtime Workshop, sign up for your mandatory Counselor College ❖ Appointment: Common App requires a “School Report” which asks for Counselor Input and Letter. Students must meet with Mrs. Wilson without parent for Counselor ❖ College Appointment.
