We Did Some Work • Early 2014: Small group of students start a discussion about potential changes to BUSAC structure & size • Fall 2014: Speaking Turns report completed • Winter 2015: Discussions continue, survey of neighbour schools formulated and executed. • Spring 2015: Newly elected Governance Committee members resolve to undertake BUSAC Reform • Remainder of 2015: Governance Committee holds regular meetings to discuss and develop full policy options for By-law

We Did Some Work • December 2014: Governance Report begins discussion with Council as a whole about electoral reform. • January 2015: First presentation & reading of Governance Report with Bylaw 103 changes. First Reading passes 17-5 (1) • January 2015: 2 open invitation round tables to discuss changes. • January 27: Second reading of Bylaw 103 passes 14-3 (5) • February 2015: First election under new system takes place

  7. What About our Neighbours? Among our immediate neighbours (+/- 2500 FTE) we were double+ size for population. New model is still quite high among our closest schools. Still 4 th largest amongst schools surveyed with new model.

  8. How Did We Get Here? Speaking Turns Report, 2014 • 14 Councillors had 0 interventions • 63% of Councillors had 0-10 interventions. • Conversation dominated by Executives, Directors of the Board, who accounted for just under 50% of all interventions (4 Executives, 4 Directors vs. 45 BUSAC Councilors/Non- voting seats)
