Animal adaptations By Gladys Anima and Armonie Johnson
What are adaptations? Animals have adaptations to help them survive. A animal with light colored skin tells other animals to stay away, a shell can protect a turtle from its predators, and thick white fur helps a polar bear blend in the snow and keep warm.
What is mimicry? Mimicry is an adaptation an animal uses to survive. A viceroy butterfly looks like a poisonous monarch butterfly so predators don't try to eat it, a fly that looks like a bee makes other animals try to avoid it, and some butterflies have special patterns that make other animals try not to mess with it.
How do animals behave? Animals behave in di ff erent ways because their instincts. A mouse hibernates in winter because there is not enough food to eat and they have to waste less energy, spiders spin a web to catch their food, and chipmunks do not sleep deeply because in case of an emergency they can wake up quick.
How can quick responses help animals survive? Animals have quick response to help them survive such as a porcupine has special quills to protect them, sow bugs or armadillos have armor, and a pu ff er fish have spines that can poke predators.
