Graduate Assistantship Programme for International PhD students on MOE non-premium scholarship Mode of Clocking Maximum hours Maximum % allowable Graduate Assistantship allowable for this No out of the stipulated Remarks Programme Hours category during GAP requirement (Per Candidature) candidature Official office hours and preparation of the class can be taken into account. 1 Teaching Hours/Laboratory 416 hours 100% As a guide, preparation time taken for the Supervision assignment done should not take more than half of the time required for the assignment. The quality of the research supervision or RA duty needs to be endorsed by the student’s Research Assistant duty, supervisor. inclusive of research 125 hours No preparation time is to be clocked in this 2 30% supervision (Out of 416) assignment. The RA duty should go beyond the scope of the research project undertaken by the student to fulfil the requirement of the PGR programme. Other developmental 83 hours Other assignments with developmental value 3 assignments (Out of 416) 20% approved by the Vice Dean. PhD IS on a non-premium scholarship should serve 104 hours per semester (8 hours x 13 weeks) for a 2-year period, i.e. a total of 416 hours in his/her candidature. The maximum percentage allowable for the 3 categories of duty remains the same for all IS on MOE PGR scholarships (regardless of programme or type of scholarship). Flexibility is allowed for the IS to plan on a yearly basis instead of completing the hours by semester. The above stated hours are the baseline requirements for IS on MOE-funded scholarships GRO Students are not required to fulfil the GAP Hours NPGS Singaporean and SPR students are required to fulfil 50% of the above requirement. Teaching Requirements PhD students are required to teach 3 hours without payment per week per semester MA students on College-funded scholarship are required to teach 2 hours without payment per week per semester For students on a scholarship who teach only 1 semester per academic year, they are required to teach double of the above requirements without payment per week. For example, PhD students on RSS will need to teach 6 hours without payment per week if they are only teaching for 1 semester per academic year Beyond the requirement, students on scholarships will be paid Students who are self-funded or no longer on scholarship paid starting from their very first hour of teaching

Graduation Requirements PhD Candidates (Full Time) • Complete 6 courses • Obtain a minimum CGPA of 3.50 • Pass a Confirmation Exercise • Attend 15 Seminars and submit a copy of proof of attendance • Pass Research Integrity Online course and submit the certificate All of the above by the end of 18 months • Candidates will be required to pass HWG702 (Small Group Teaching) by their Confirmation before they can be granted the $500 RSS stipend increment • Submit thesis before the end of the scholarship period
