Flea Detectives! • You are all expert flea detectives and have been asked to work out why Charlie has so many fleas. • Work in groups – Decide what each object is – Work out how it links to fleas – Fill in your worksheets • BUT don’t move on to the next object until you are told to.
Flea Detectives! If a flea was the size of a human, it could jump as high as Jess the cat a real one of these! This is Charlie’s friend. Any Carpet fleas she has can easily jump on to Charlie instead. Finding this on pets or around Pet bed the house is a warning sign that fleas are about… Skyscraper You walk on this everyday. But look closely and this might be full of baby fleas, which look like tiny maggots! Black specks Warm and cosy – a perfect place for fleas to call home.

Make your own Origami Jumping Flea!
Get your square piece of paper.
Fold it in half. Unfold it. Fold it in half the other way.
Fold each corner into the centre – Be as neat as you can!
Fold the 2 edges so that they meet in the centre.
Fold the little triangle towards the top.
Fold the bottom corners inwards. Make sure they meet in the middle and are still in line with the edge.
Fold the bottom bit towards the top.
Fold half of the bit that you’ve just folded back again the opposite way.
Fold some of the pointy bit towards the bottom.
Turn your flea over… and make it jump by pressing the ‘X’!
