  2. SNACK CACKLE POP @stemettes | #stemillions

  3. Meet Katherine Johnson... Meet Her: Katherine is a mathematician who contributed to the US space programs with the early application of computers at NASA. She calculated the trajectories and back-up return paths for the early NASA missions and the 1969 Apollo 11 flight to the Moon. Her calculations were critical to the success of these missions. Katherine also did the calculations for the mission to Mars. @stemettes | #stemillions

  4. Meet Katherine Johnson... bit.ly/024MeetThem @stemettes | #stemillions

  5. Meet Katherine Johnson... Questions to discuss as a club... Any thoughts about the video? ★ What do you think of Katherine’s ★ career? What do you think is the hardest ★ activity to do in space? @stemettes | #stemillions

  6. Activity Time... Choose one of these 2 options: MAKE: use sweets to create a scale model of the solar system (slides 7-10). or EXPLORE: make a wall display of the 8 phases of the moon (slides 11-14). - @stemettes | #stemillions

  7. MAKE Create a scale model of the solar system out of sweets. Remember to take a photo of your solar system before you eat it all! - @stemettes | #stemillions

  8. MAKE Get into groups of two or three Use one sweet to represent Earth (because it’s the best!) - @stemettes | #stemillions

  9. MAKE Go to bit.ly/024make to find out how many times bigger or smaller each planet is than Earth. - @stemettes | #stemillions

  10. MAKE BONUS: ★ Include the sun and all the moons from each planet if you have time. ★ Can you find out the distance between each planet as well? - @stemettes | #stemillions

  11. EXPLORE FACT: There are 8 different phases of the moon. Get into groups of two or three. In your groups you will be making a poster all about the different phases of the moon. - @stemettes | #stemillions

  12. EXPLORE On a computer, go to bit.ly/024explore Try to find the following information: ★ What is the name of each phase? ★ Why does this phase happen? ★ At what point in the lunar cycle does this phase happen? (Beginning, middle, end) ★ What does ‘waning’ and ‘waxing’ mean? - @stemettes | #stemillions

  13. EXPLORE Now you’ve done the research, make a poster or wall display to explain all of the information you found out. - @stemettes | #stemillions

  14. EXPLORE Show your posters to the rest of the members of your club. Remember to take a photo of the club and their posters. - @stemettes | #stemillions

  15. Congratulations! You completed this Meal Plan, time to digest it… - @stemettes | #stemillions
