We do lots of things to be safe...
We buckle up
We wear bike helmets
We use the crosswalk
We practice fire drills
We practice bus evacuation drills
Firefighters keep us safe
Police Officers keep us safe
Teachers keep us safe
Why do we practice being safe? • To be prepared • To feel safe and calm
Today we will learn about a drill to help us be prepared and to be safe and calm. This is called an ALICE Alert Drill
Alice Alert Drill You will hear an adult make an announcement This is an ALICE Alert drill. They will be giving GROWN UPS information about an emergency

In the event of an emergency, we have choices...
Barricade and Lockdown
What can we barricade with? • chairs • desks or tables • cabinets • shelves • anything else? • then, look for alternate ways to evacuate
Evacuate (LEAVE)
Where should we go? Anywhere our teachers tell us to go ○ To a prearranged place ○ Another school ○ Home ○ Follow a safe adult
Drills •Make us prepared •Help us feel safe and calm Announcements • Stop • Look • Listen Follow a grown-up’s directions
We work together to keep each other safe
What if.... ● You are in the hallway? ● You are in the bathroom? ● You are in a special? ● You are at lunch? ● You are at recess? ● There is a guest teacher?
What if?... Take a breath … exhale, look for the nearest grown up, make a decision for yourself: LEAVE or HIDE ACT!
Remember...
