  7. Parent’s Right to Know Parents have the right to know about the teaching qualifications of your child’s classroom teacher in a school receiving Title I funds. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW • Whether the teacher has met State qualification and licensing criteria levels and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction; • Whether the teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which State qualification or licensing criteria have been waived; • Whether the teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher; and • Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.   8. Parent Involvement Plan Every Title I school, in collaboration with parents, must • develop a school parent involvement plan. The plan describes how the school will involve the parents • in an organized, ongoing, and timely way in the planning, review and improvement of the Title I program at the school. A copy of the plan is on the school’s website and available • for you to take home today. 8

  9. School-Parent Compact A written agreement that outlines how the parents, the entire staff and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement, as well as describes how the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the state’s high standards. 9

  10. School Building Leadership Team The primary function of a Building Leadership Team is to promote and facilitate the collaborative decision making process which impacts academic achievement. 10

  11. Parent Advisory Council Representative Each Title I school is required to have a Title I Parent • Advisory Council (PAC). The Principal of the school selects two parents to serve as representative and co-representative of the school's Title I PAC. The school’s building leadership team work with the • school's principal and the Parent Advisory Council representative in developing a Title I Parent Plan and parent-student compact for the school. 11

  12. Parent Consultant Each Title I school is required to have a Parent Consultant. • The Principal of the school selects one parent to serve as Consultant. The Parent Consultant manages the school’s Parent Resource Center and operates the lending library. The Parent Center is open for two hours per day/ten hours • per week. The parent is contracted, as the parent consultant, to • provide services for the school’s Parent Resource Center, attend PAC meetings, provide parent workshops, and maintain the Lending Library. The parent consultant will receive a quarterly stipend of $250, not to exceed $1,000 annually. The parent must have a child enrolled at the school where • services are being provided. 12
