  2. Arena Electrical System Improvement The goal of this project is to supply enough power to the arena to run all functions needed during the Fair and off season events. The PUD has done an energy audit on the existing 3 phase transformers and found them to be heavily overloaded. The result is we currently have to wire in large extension cords and run generators to meet the power demands in the arena. They currently supply 200 Amp power to 5 areas of the fairgrounds; ∗ Arena (Racing tote board, lights, Entertainment Stage) ∗ Grandstands & half of Courtyard power and lights ∗ Restaurant Row #1; For food vendors ∗ Restaurant Row #2; For food vendors ∗ Sheriff’s Office, Restrooms & Showers and RV/carnival power-peds in field This project was split into two phases. Phase 1: To be completed before 2016 Tillamook County Fair. This project involves boring a 3” conduit under the arena north to south from existing power and install a new 200 amp panel with proper 50 amp plugs and will operate the Jumbo Tron and Race horse board. The existing panel is failing and runs off of the arena lighting.

  3. Arborvitae Wind Break This project will enhance the ability to use these areas on a regular basis and provide an added security feature in the future when more mature. The Arborvitae Wind Break improves the visual impact to visitors and provides a wind break for the West parking and event area.

  4. Parking Upgrades This was completed before the 2016 Tillamook County Fair and constructed in conjunction with the 3 rd street sidewalk project. Additional gravel parking was needed for the Fairgrounds to support the larger events that the have been renting the facilities and create an improved designated handicap parking area. The rotted fence line was removed and concrete barriers now create the West parking area perimeter.

  5. Loop Road Upgrade ∗ The loop road around the entire parking lot was improved with approximately 275 yards of rock. ∗ This allows access for vehicles and a people mover pulled by a tractor during fair.

  6. 4-H Sound System The existing sound system in the Pavilion was a stand alone model, it was expanded to operate in the 4H Barn . No system currently existed and the expansion allowed both barns to operate independently or as one system as is needed during the Fair and other events.

  7. 4-H Dorm Power Pedestal Due to the obstructive position of the power pedestal in the center of the drive at the 4-H dorm entrance, it has been hit and damaged on numerous occasions. Temporary repairs have been made over the last couple of years, we felt it was unstable and increasingly becoming a safety hazard. The pedestal was moved and relocated to the shrub row in line with the other power pedestals and out of harms way. The line was bored causing the least amount of area disruption.

  8. Grandstand & Crow’s Nest ∗ During normal review of power connections for Fair there were safety concerns discovered. Wires laying loose and not properly capped or secured in conduit, improper load on circuits, not enough electrical outlets per location causing the use of multiple plug in adapters. ∗ The faulty wiring was removed; connections secured or inserted into conduit where necessary. Proper sized wire was ran in all areas needed, circuits were split to properly disperse the load and replace & installed new junction boxes, receptacles, breakers and switches. ∗ The breaker box panel was properly labeled.
