Un Unif iform orm St Stand andards ards Please ensure children come to school in: • Correct school uniform including appropriate shoes and bags. Small green or red bows can be worn. Other oversized Bows can not be worn. • Other bags such as sports bags or back-packs should not be brought to school. For health and safety reasons children with pierced ears may wear studs, which will need to be taken out or taped up for PE. Watches may be worn, but no other jewellery. However if jewellery is worn for religious reasons then a written note to Miss James is needed.

In English our fiction work will be based around: The Egyptian Cinderella by Shirley Climo Secrets of a Sun King by Emma Carroll Creating portal stories going back to the times of Tutankhamun’s discovery. Our non fiction work will link to our topic, it will be research based, with them finding out about every aspect of that time period through questions that they have generated.

They will be using their creative skills to: • Advertise the event • Work out how many cakes they need to sell • How to cost the products • Make or buy cakes at school or home • Sell cakes on the day • Calculate how many cakes were sold and the profit made to send to Macmillan.
Visit its s and Exp xperien riences ces Pl Planned for the Year Year Centaurs will be visiting the British Museum to study in- depth about our topic Pharaohs. The date is to be arranged but it will be after half-term. We will be travelling there by train and tube. We will meet at Orpington Station at a designated meeting place before and at the end of the trip.

There are superb educational benefits; Science, History and Geography. It is for 3 days, 2 nights which is good preparation for Year 6 trip for 1 week. Year 5 will be going in term 2 specific dates to be arranged.
Ho Houses and Ho House Po Points ts The Houses and House Points system continues from last year. All children are placed in houses and if they have siblings they will be placed in the same houses. The houses are Redgrave, Farah, Ennis-Hill and Simmonds.
