NOC structure • Which roles and coverage and responsibility does your staff have? Uniform staff working 8/5 – plus when they can't leave the network • How is your NOC organized? Centralized NOC, but uses hands-on at universities • How does the NOC work with different kinds of tools? There's no tool integration
Front end • What types of users are using your network and services? Focus is on institutional users • How does the SLAs or agreements you have with your customers look like? User don't want money – they want awareness. And we don't like SLAs • Which tools are used to communicate with and keep track of users? Mail to OTRS ticketing, phone
Inter-NOC communication • How do your NOC communicate internally and with other groups in your organization? IRC, OTRS, phone, mail, visits • How does your NOC communicate NOCs outside your organization? Mail and phone. TekRef group • Which tools are used to facilitate inter-NOC communication? None
Documentation • What information do your NOC document? IP-information, Connections, Contacs • Which tools are used to create and update documentation? Routerconf (database), Rancid (configurations), Wiki (Connections) • Do you have any Best Practice Documents available to share? No – we don't use best practices
