  4. Playgrounds  Speech/Language  Requesting help and where to go. "Go slide!" "Up!"  Modeling prepositions and verbs. "Climb up." "Swing from the monkey bars!" "Slide down." "Play tag with me."  Labeling playground vocabulary. (slide, swings, monkey bars, etc)  Encouraging and assisting with play and conversation between siblings and peers.   7. Library Story time  Read stories to your child, making  funny voices for the characters, commenting, and asking questions as you go along. "What do you think will happen next?" "Where did the cat go?" "Look at the blue car!" Ask your child to point to pictures in  the book. Have your child pick out books and  turn the pages Crafts  Encourage requesting, naming items,  following directions. Outside Go for a walk Model spatial concepts:" jump over", "go behind the tree", "walk in front", "go under the tree" ✓ Ride a scooter or bike, pull a wagon, walk a dog ✓ Discuss what you are seeing and greet people ✓ Scavenger Hunt Play " I Spy"- Have your child find vocabulary in the environment. (ex. Find something ✓ that smells nice, find something green, find something you can play with.)   9. More Outside Fun: Bubbles Have child request that you blow the bubbles or that they want a turn with ✓ the bubbles. Model vocabulary and actions, and then have them imitate you.   12. Rainy Day Activities Cooking  Have your child help with collecting the  ingredients and model the names of the ingredients for them if they do not know. Practice sequencing skills. (ex. FIRST we need  to add the flour, THEN we add the egg.) Have your child measure, pour and stir  Games  Board games, card games (memory, go fish).  Story time  Act out stories or read on your belly  Music  Model the lyrics and actions and have your child  imitate you. Mealtimes Try a variety of foods and eating them  with different type of utensils ( cocktail fork, ice cream spoon, chop sticks, using a fork and knife) Requesting food items,  comparing/contrasting foods, describing foods. "The apple and banana are both fruit, but the apple is crunchy and the banana is soft." Have your child talk about what meal of  the day it is and discuss other foods you can eat for those meals.
