No Bummer summer 2018
F Weekly Park Fun
Planting at the Buffalo Lake Community Garden Thank you to the community for this opportunity. The students are learning a lifelong skill.
Everyone wants to help water….
Garden fun… planting and weeding. Plus our insect experiment
We invested in milkweed plants that were planted right outside our school window. Here are different stages of the butterfly.
Tour with Mr. Strobel at the firestation. Tour at Crow River printing press.
Buffalo Lake City History & Hector Dental Clinic tour.
Students learn new skills through crafts. These are called Worry Dolls. We discussed their origin. Staff family & friends donated many supplies we use for crafts.
We secured two Thrivent grants. One was used on garden and science supplies. Another used for fabric and miscellaneous craft / food supplies. Once again we try to combine lifeskills, science and FUN into their projects.
The students were given a box of wood scraps. They could create anything they wanted from family donated wood scraps. They did a SUPER job of creating original fun pieces.
Having fun with gravity … pipe insulation, marbles, blocks.
The students have created a couple of “box” towns. They work together using imaginations and adding room resources (blocks, tape, more tape, more tape, and markers) .
This is what snacktime looks like. Including a lively discussion.
Typical fun activities
Each day the students are allowed “free time”. Most days they choose to work with supplies that are built using their imagination.
Thank You Thank you To the community for their support toward our No Bummer Summer Program.
