Mission Our Ken Caryl Middle School family is an inclusive community that fosters academic, social, and emotional growth by empowering students to think critically in order to become successful contributors to our global society. 4
Areas of Focus 1. Transforming Student Learning Instruction will incorporate inquiry and choice through conceptual- research based practices and real-world experiences, at students’ instructional level. 2. Engaging in the PLC Process What is it that we want our students to learn? How will we know if each student has learned it? How will we respond if students don’t learn it? How can we extend and enrich the learning if students already demonstrate proficiency? 5

WEB Leaders! WEB, which stands for Where Everyone Belongs is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout the first year of their middle school experience. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors for the 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide 6th graders what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school and help facilitate 6th grade success. 11

TEAMS Why team? Students have a sense of belonging. Provides students with greater attention to individual needs and teachers have opportunities to share ideas, plans, classroom observations.
