  2. Overview The New York Bonds for School Technology Act was approved by the voters in November 2014. The approved referendum authorized the state Comptroller to issue and sell bonds up to the amount of $2 billion. It has since been re-named the “Smart Schools Bond Act”. Plainview-Old Bethpage’s allocation is $1,637,283.

  3. Plainview-Old Bethpage SSIP Timeline  April 5, April 11 and June 9, 2016 – meetings of Smart School Committee  June 20, 2016 - Preliminary Plan was accepted by Board of Education and posted for public comment.  September 7, 2016 – Public Hearing held. Board of Education approves final SSIP. SSIP submitted through NYSED Portal.

SSIP Review Process at NYSED Expenditure Review Since November 2016  Detailed review of specific budgeted items: Descriptions, Quantities, Prices and other budgetary questions  Resubmitted after revisions with expenditures Review Board  Sent to SUNY for review of relevant professional development and collaboration with teacher preparation programs, and  Sent to DOB for complete review Approved  Approved by the SSBA Review Board  District can begin making expenditures consistent with their approved plan, except capital expenditures still requiring standard review by the SED Office of Facilities Planning
