  2. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. What is STEM?

  3. The S.T.E.M initiative began as an “idea” raised during Kingsway’s strategic planning process. Members of the student- body, parents, faculty, and community leaders identified more science- based curricular and co- curricular programming as a priority initiative moving forward. Goal 2. Objective A.1 Develop learning academies that embody science, technology, engineering and math standards.

  4. Kingsway partnered with Rowan College at Gloucester County and as a result developed the first S.T.E.M. Academy partnership in Gloucester County. Kingsway students will be able to earn as many as 16 college credits while earning a high school diploma. Strategic Partnership

  5. The S.T.E.M . Academy at Kingsway Regional High School is a rigorous four year interdisciplinary program designed to provide a strong educational foundation for those academically-gifted students planning to pursue careers in S cience, T echnology, E ngineering, or M athematics. • Students enrolled in this program should be prepared for challenging coursework and a variety of educational opportunities. Individuals are placed in cohorts with one another based on their concentration. This means they will be able to study and collaborate with students who have similar interests! Successful completion of the full program allows students to graduate with 12-16 college credits and a strong foundation in science. Students may select to complete the full STEM program or concentrate their focus on biology, chemistry, engineering, or visual/performing arts. • The program is divided into two phases: Phase I: two years of interdisciplinary education requirements. Phase II: two years of advanced programming aligned with STEM college programming. S.T.E.M. What is It?

  6. • To prepare students for majoring in STEM-related fields in college. We wish to accomplish this by: • Supporting the students. • Providing them with a rigorous but engaging, targeted educational plan. • Providing opportunities for connections to careers. • Allowing students to engage in college-level courses. • Engaging in research on STEM education. • Gathering feedback from students, teachers, colleges and universities, and parents to make improvements to the Academy. Our STEM Committee Mission
