New York City expands dual language teaching

NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - New York City is expanding programs where students will be taught in two different languages. Mayor de Blasio and Schools Chancellor Richard A. Carranza made the announcement as they kicked off the first day of Pre-K and 3-K applications for next year. Dual language classes are comprised of 50 percent children whose home language is the target language of the program and 50 percent English-proficient students. Instruction is held in both languages.
