Rising 7 th Grade Events- Winter/Spring Event ~ Longfellow counselors visit feeder February 11-22, elementary schools to explain courses, 2019 Longfellow student life, and how to select courses in StudentVUE February 28, DEADLINE TO ENTER COURSES 2019 6 th grade students visit Longfellow Middle March 25-28, with their elementary school 2019
Rising 7 th Grade Events- Summer Event Date Jump Start to Success Program August 6 – 7 (Session A) Registration opens: April 1, 2019 August 8 -9 (Session B) Register through My School Bucks 8:30 am - 12:30 pm 7th Grade Open House August 20, 2019 Students will receive their schedules and 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm locker number 7th grade Orientation August 22, 2019 Students will practice their schedules 9:00 am - 11:00 am and meet their teachers
Student Life at Longfellow Lancer Code: Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be Safe Homework: Average of 60-90 minutes of homework each night Teams : English, Science, History teachers, school counselor, grade level administrator Lockers: Practice opening lockers at the Open House and for the first couple of weeks of school – Backpacks are kept in lockers Class changes: 4 minutes between classes – Counselors can help you find the fastest route, if you need help
7 th Grade Student Schedule Class Schedule Longfellow operates on a 7 1. Math (levels vary- no AAP) period day. 2. English Honors or AAP All classes meet 3. Science 7 Honors or AAP everyday. 4. U.S. History 7 Honors or AAP 5. Health and PE (will appear as two semester courses) 7 th graders eat 6. Elective (1 full year or 2 semester choices) lunch based on their 4 th period 7. Elective (1 full year or 2 semester choices) teacher. Lancer Time- approximately 20 minutes for extra help or enrichment at the end of the day

Elective courses at Longfellow • Classes are “exploratory” and students should consider their interests and talents • World Language courses are academic classes • High school credit in 8 th grade and French Immersion • Students can earn up to two high school credits on the World Language Credit Exam in he fall • Students should NOT pick classes to try to be with friends • Select alternate electives carefully. • Sometimes students do not get their top choices due to course availability or class conflicts • Classes cannot be changed once the school year starts
