Grade Point Average - GPA • High school courses are assigned a grade-point value A = 4 points, B = 3 points, C = 2 points, D = 1 point • GPA = Total number of grade points earned ÷ Total number of credits attempted • Some courses are “weighted” - increased point value A = 5 points, B = 4 points, C = 3 points • Higher Grades = Higher GPA • Every course taken in high school counts towards GPA

High School Courses Students select a total of 8 courses for their 9 th grade year as they work towards meeting graduation requirements
English English 9 or Honors English 9 Science Earth Science or Honors Earth Science Social Studies World History I (to 1500) or World History II (1500 A.D. to the Present)

What's Next? • Students & families review the Program of Studies and begin identifying courses that align with academic, personal, and career goals. • School counselors work with students and families individually and in classes/labs to review academic, personal, and career goals and plan coursework for 2020-2021 Update Academic & Career Plan Review course request/registration High School Visits- Walk rising 9th graders through Course Requests online ( Week of February 10th )
What's Next? • Course Request Window (February 9th-March 2nd) 9th grade courses requested will be available on VUE for parents and students to review/edit Students & families review requested courses on Student/ParentVUE and make any necessary edits • Student/ParentVUE is “view only” beginning March 3 rd and no edits to course requests/selections can be made.
