  4. InTec: A Project-Based Approach InTec is a branch of the high school located at the Walker Center near the Spokane Industrial Park. The main goal is to prepare students for post-secondary education and the world of work. Learning is accomplished without books and in a way that students use hands-on methods of learning while seeing real-world applications to what they are learning. Students attend InTec for 1 st and 2 nd period then take a shuttle to the high school for a 3 rd period elective and lunch, then return to InTec for 4 th -6 th . Students are encouraged to participate in extra-curricular activities and athletics at the main high school campus.

  5. English Options CIRCLE YOUR CHOICE • Pre-AP English 1 focuses on the close reading, analytical writing, and language skills that have immediate relevance for students across their current courses and that are most essential for their future work in high school, college, and careers.

  6. Math Options CIRCLE YOUR CHOICE The next step after 8 th grade math. ALGEBRA I Strongly suggest the successful completion of Algebra I GEOMETRY in MS with an A or B and a strong work ethic on daily work. Strongly suggest the successful completion of ALGEBRA II Geometry in MS with an A or B and a strong work ethic on daily work.

  7. Science Options CIRCLE YOUR CHOICE This is a year-long course on Biology.

  8. Fitness & Health Options Students will take 1 semester of Fitness and 1 semester of Health. You have the choice of taking either 9 th Grade Fitness or 9 th Grade CIRCLE Advanced Fitness. ONE Advanced Fitness requires 8 th Grade PE Teacher Approval. It is not required to take All students are required Fitness in the 9 th grade but to take 1 semester of it is HIGHLY Health. Social Studies or Elective Options CIRCLE OR WRITE IN YOUR CHOICE • Honors World Cultures: This is a 1-semester course that will help students explore all options within Honors, Advanced Placement, and College in the Classroom. It can be taken as an elective or count as World History I. • OR you can select an elective from the list on the back of your registration form.

  10. Selecting Electives Please hold off filling out this section until we go through the elective options. It is VERY important that you fill this section out correctly so that we can get you the electives you want.

  11. AVID is NOT a remedial class or study hall. We are highly selective on our admission process. Students with Academic Potential have: • Average to high test scores • 2.0-3.5 GPA • College potential but may need support • Desire and determination • Been historically underserved in 4-year colleges • Potential to be first in family to attend or graduate from college

We will try to give you your 1 st choice, but we need alternatives if the classes fill up.

Advisory Every 9 th grader will have an Advisory class period on late start • Monday’s between 4 th and 5 th period and will stay with their Advisory Teacher for all 4 years. • Advisory is designed to help students meet the requirements for graduation and establish a successful College and Career Readiness path for East Valley High School based on Washington State Laws. • Advisory provides an opportunity for positive, meaningful relationships between students and staff with a consistent schedule built on College and Career Readiness topics.

  14. Zero Hour Options Place an on a box if you are interested.  You can choose to take a Zero Hour (before school starts).  Prerequisites or Teacher Recommendation is REQUIRED.  May require an audition for Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Choir, or Strolling Strings.

  15. Personalized Pathway Choice Write your selection from the list on the left in the box on the front (top right) of your registration form.

Current Science Teacher Approval 4. Current PE Teacher Approval (if taking Weights) 5. Current Social Studies Teacher Approval (if taking History) 6. Parent Signature at the bottom of the form 7. Return the form to your Advisory Teacher FRIDAY
