What is Food Waste? foods that are thrown away, either because they are not needed, not eaten, or because they must be thrown away
Did You Know? One third of all food produced for people gets wasted That’s like buying three bags of shopping at the supermarket and throwing one away as you leave the store! That’s like asking your lunch staff for three sausages and leaving one on your plate untouched. What a waste!
Did You Know... We throw away 38.7% of lettuce? We throw away 22.4% of bread? 40% of food thrown away is fresh fruit and vegetables?
Raise Your Hand If... You think your family buys more food than consumed Your family throws out food each week because it has gone bad Can you become a Food Waste Warrior like these kids?

Activity #1 Supermarkets in France now sell ugly fruits and vegetables that would normally be thrown out because of their looks. Instead, a company called Inglorious Fruits & Vegetables makes a variety of products to show they are perfectly fine! They are keeping these fruits and veggies from being tossed.
