  11. Preparing your child for Primary 1

  12. Exciting your child about school • Purchase school uniform and textbooks together • Choose school bag and stationery together • Label the school books and stationery with him/her • Get elder siblings, cousins and even yourself to share positive primary school experiences

  13. Familiarisation with School Routines • School Hours • Flag-Lowering Ceremony • Assembly • Recess • School Bus: Pick-Up, Discipline on the Bus and Drop-Off

  14. RSS Curriculum Time in 2016 12.15 pm Reporting Time 12.15pm to 6.00pm Curriculum Time 3pm to 3.30pm Recess Time P1 – P2 students are to be with their respective  classes for pledge-taking no later than 12.15pm.

  15. Curriculum time will be strictly adhered to. Should your child need to leave early for urgent matters, kindly proceed to the General Office to sign him/her out before picking him/her up from the General Office.

  16. • If your child is unwell, please seek medical advice, obtain a medical certificate and allow him/her to rest at home • For other reasons such as an urgent family matters (eg. compassionate leave), a letter from parent will suffice.

  17. • Parents are strongly encouraged not to take their child away on holiday during term time as learning is on-going even after end-of-year examinations. • Should there be a need to go away, a letter from parent will be necessary.

  18. Practising Schooling Skills • Follow school/ class rules • Listening attentively for longer periods of time • Asking for permission and help • Passing messages (between school and parents) • Organising his/her things in the school bag

  19. Developing independence • Tying his/her shoe laces • Dressing himself/herself • Eating on his/her own • Packing his/her own bag • Having good hygiene habits

  20. • The earlier your child is familiarised with his/her new environment, the more positive he/she will feel about going to school. • Get him/her excited about new experiences, such as making new friends or learning new things.

Setting the Routine Early In order to help your child/ward accustom to the school operations as soon as possible, we appreciate if parents • Set the routine from day 1 regarding dismissal arrangements (bus/gate) • Do not enter the school from the second day of school. Teachers will be stationed at Gate 5 and the bus bay to lead your child/ward to the hall.

  37. • • • • Primary 1 child will receive MMR booster 1(against measles, mumps and rubella) if they have not. • Primary 1 students will also receive booster immunisation against polio (until year 2019). Children born after 1 March 2013 will follow the new schedule. • Primary 5 child will receive booster immunisation against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and poliomyelitis.

  41. RSS PSG Logo and Motto A warm welcome to RSS: RSS PSG was set up in March 2015  Our Motto is “ Together we nurture our children ” .  Our logo for RSS PSG signifies RSS parents from all walks of life coming together hand in hand to support RSS PSG activities.

RSS PSG Objectives RSS PSG was set up in March 2015 to create a platform for the following objectives:  To enable RSS parents to meet up and network with other parents;  To spearhead programmes and projects that will benefit the students; and  As a conduit for communication between school and parents.

  43. Nepal Exhibition May 2015 In response to the Earthquake in Nepal in Apr 2015, the inaugural PSG event was organised: photo exhibit of Nepal with mini exhibition explanation.
