Criteria Rubric Please consider these indicators when deciding whether or not an accelerated program is appropriate for your child at this time, and use it to make an informed decision when filling out the course selection form.
Student Pathways ● The On-Grade Level Pathway progresses through grade level Common Core math concepts at an appropriate pace. Students moving along this pathway are projected to take the Common Core Algebra I Regents in grade 9. ● The Accelerated Pathway exposes students to concepts at a faster pace and content is above grade-level of the On-Grade Level Pathway. The Accelerated Pathway typically leads students to take the Common Core Algebra I Regents in grade 8. ● Both pathways still allows students opportunities to take Advanced Placement (AP) and college coursework in grades 11 and 12 at C.W. Baker High School.
Parent CHOICE ● On-ramps to acceleration can occur later in a student’s academic program. ● You know your son/daughter best. If you believe your child can meet the rigor and expectation of the Accelerated Pathway, even if they do not meet the recommended standards set forth in the letter, you may opt to have your child scheduled accordingly.
