PEN phone conference 13.02.2019 Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Markus Stommel Fakultät für Maschinenbau Lehrstuhl für Kunststofftechnologie Tel: 0231/755-5753 lkt.mb.tu-dortmund.de
Agenda Progress with Glass Mould Mechanical simulation of LEGEND 200 setup Time frame 2
Glass Mould Switch from regular steel mould to glass mould: • Very good surface quality • PEN tends to stick to polished steel -> release agent is necessary • It is more difficult to produce complicated moulds from glass • Glass has a very low thermal conductivity (slow cooling of polymer). It is ideal for production of very thin but large parts with injection compression moulding 3

Glass Mould Diameter: 17 mm Thickness: 0,75 mm Scintillation under UV-C light 7
Simulation • Static Simulation • Dynamic Simulation (acceleration horizontally/vertically) Material: • Pure Copper • PTFE • PEN • Germanium (as weight) 8
