Sign Out Procedures • For safety reasons, students will only be permitted to sign out and leave the building if an adult who appears on their contact list in the student management system physically presents himself/herself in the high school main office and provides appropriate identification. • The departure must be confirmed by the student’s parent/guardian via a signed note, email, or a phone conversation with the main office staff. • Students must provide unique signed notes to leave for each departure, as indicated above, and should only be leaving for excused/legal reasons (see Attendance/Tardiness section).
Electronic Devices • When used properly, electronic devices can enhance learning in a variety of ways. It is important for students to learn and demonstrate appropriate use of such devices. • Students must adhere to teacher instructions to determine whether electronic use is allowed in a particular setting. • Electronic device usage will be permitted in the cafeteria during breakfast/lunch and between classes in the hallways (one earbud rule). • Any student who uses an electronic device in an inappropriate way will be subject to disciplinary consequences and risks losing all electronic device privileges.

What have we been doing at the Middle School to prepare for the transition to the HS? Ms. Sweeney • Future Story Projects in Social Studies (December) • Wayne Technical and Career Center & P-Tech presentations (February) • Visit the High school for a tour and visit to learn about course offerings (February) • Classroom instruction & overview of HS requirements, options and begin working on HS 4 year plan and freshman courses (February). • Individual/or group sessions with counselor to complete HS plan (March) • MS Skills competition at BOCES (April) • Summer orientation at the High School(August) • After completing your HS plan, your parents/guardians will be invited to meet with Ms. Sweeney to review your plan.
