The Son Exalted in Creation Colossians 1:15-17 The emphasis is that because Jesus is the Son of God he is Lord over all.
The Son Exalted in Creation ๏ Jesus is the the Son of God. (1:15) ๏ The Father brought forth creation by the Son. (1:16a) ๏ The Father subjects creation to the Son. (1:16b) ๏ The Father sustains creation through the Son. (1:17)
The Son Exalted in Creation ๏ This world is in chaos because it rejects the Son. ๏ The fallen angels are under the restraint of the Son. ๏ This planet is under the protection of the Son. ๏ All of life is rightly subdued to the glory of the Son.

The Son Exalted in Recreation Colossians 1:18-20 The emphasis is that because sin has infected all of creation God sent his Son to redeem his people and renew creation.

The Son Exalted in Recreation ๏ Salvation hangs on the resurrection of Jesus. ๏ The chaos and evil of this world will one day be brought to an end. ๏ The Church finds her purpose in the Son. ๏ In this life we are dependent upon the resurrected life of Christ in us.
