Transportation Priorities • Using a regional lens to apply existing funding sources more effectively to solve transportation challenges • Supporting important state and local legislation that will enable more regional and local projects to be implemented (SB1, bus on shoulder, trails, etc.) • Creating an MBEP Mobility Program that reduces traffic and promotes multi-modal options for commuters

Key Accomplishments to Date • Monterey Bay Housing Trust (MBHT) in partnership with Housing Trust Silicon Valley • Exceeded MBHT fundraising goal in July 2017 with over $12M in trust • 4 projects funded to date; 6 in the pipeline • MBEP Action Center • Conducted 17 successful campaigns to date, resulting in over 700 new homes • Created Regional Advocacy Calendar and Housing Pipeline Map • Conducted over 6 “Affordable Housing 101” educational workshops and presented White Paper on “Realistic Policy Changes that Could Improve Housing Affordability in MB Region” to over 20 agencies across the region • Employer Sponsored Housing • Supported projects increasing farmworker housing stock toward the goal of 5,300 permanent housing units in next 5 years • Working with local employers to think how they can be part of housing solution • Provide technical assistance to employers & promote existing exemplars (e.g. Tanimura & Antle’s Spreckels Crossing) • Supporting expansion of Landed (down payment assistance for educators) into Monterey County

  17. Monterey Bay Internships www.mbinterns.org • Regional tool for students to find internships from local employers • Free for both employers and students to use • Over 4,200 registered users • Over 300 internships posted

  18. • Powerful tool to access LOCAL career and education information • Integrated curriculum from CSUMB, MPC, Hartnell College, Brandman University, Central Coast College, & Cabrillo College • At beginning of 2019, over 3,930 career assessments completed, 1000+ resumes downloaded & student profiles created

Tech Priorities • Support broadband coverage throughout the state • Partnered with Central Coast Broadband Consortium (CCBC) to redefine regional standards; conducted research with businesses and consumers throughout the region • Support the proliferation of broadband through connecting jurisdictions and ISPs to state and federal grant funding for infrastructure • New regional standard of 100 Mbps download/20 Mbps upload is being considered for adoption at the state level • Support and promote local tech events and incubator activities: • Tech/AgTech MeetUps • Start-up Challenges • Hackathons • Forbes AgTech Summit • Thrive Accelerator and more
