In Inclusive Adult Progression Pathways: : STEM West Mid idlands Growth Project HS2 and “Progression Pathways into STEM careers, a strategy for Birmingham” (L&WI 2016) To develop opportunities for Inclusive Adult Progression Pathways into STEM learning and careers in the WMCA area. To provide a portfolio of inclusive community and adult learning and skills programmes for individuals, families and communities that support: • progression pathways between providers for a seamless learning journey towards STEM opportunities • progression into and within employment within STEM roles • progression into further learning as part of a STEM pathway • supported by high qualify impartial Careers Information Advice and Guidance (CIAG)
Activities in year one • Strategic activity Group 1: Establishing an underpinning infrastructure to ensure leadership, effective partnership working, and ongoing development and monitoring of the work • Strategic activity Group 2: Implementing the STEM Entry Pathway Curriculum • Strategic activity Group 3: Enabling learners to access and progress on the Pathway
Progress to date: Development of Introduction to STEM course STEM activities across providers (Walsall STEM day, STEM week at Fircroft) Outreach activities and ACLA involvement in Careers Learning Pilot Links made with WMCA (skills deal Construction pilot and digital), NCHSR, HS2 and other construction organisations Proposal for next stage of development includes; branding and marketing activities, progression pathways roadshow, eLearning and curriculum materials to support tutor CPD etc.
