Grant Details & Purpose • Community Applicants: Sofia Ramirez & Maury Treleven • Matching Partner: GUSD Plumbing, Labor & Filter Replacement • • Purpose of Grant: Provide a healthful, chilled, and filtered beverage alternative to sugary drinks • Eliminate single-use beverage container generation • Sets a precedent for future infrastructure upgrades • • Locations: La Gloria School Cafeteria (installed) • Fairview School common/patio area (installed) • Gonzales High School gymnasium exterior (installed before end of school year) • Fairview School/City of Gonzales Joint Use Gymnasium (installed before end of • school year)
Anticipated Results • Unit co-sponsored by GHS Class of 2015 & GUSD (Gonzales High School) Total single-use beverage container displacement: 26,308 units • Average annual single-use beverage container displacement: 8,769 units • • By the end of this school year, there will be 5 units installed Estimated displacement of 43,845 single-use beverage containers • Anticipate higher results for these locations due to better visibility and sports activity • • Once all units are installed, we can survey students, staff & athletes at each site to get feedback on the units • G3 can include an updated count of containers displaced at these sites as part of the program’s annual report to the community
