CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH Honors Applicant Criteria • Incoming First-Year Applicant Criteria for The University Honors Program ✓ 3.5 GPA or higher ✓ Have ACT composite score of at least 24 and/or strong SAT scores ✓ Engineering majors are suggested to have new SAT-M ≥ 680, new SAT-V ≥ 550, old SAT-M ≥ 650, old SAT-V ≥ 600, or ACT Math ≥ 31 and ACT Reading ≥ 27 • If not all criteria are met, under special circumstances, applicants may be evaluated for admissions consideration by the Honors Program Director
CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH President’s Scholarship • President’s Scholarships are the most prestigious merit-based scholarships awarded by CSULB • Individualized award packages could be comprised of tuition waivers, campus housing allowances, and/or subsidies for textbooks (or other essential course materials) for up to four years (8 semesters) Free concert ticket per semester and sports tickets
CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH President’s Scholarship Criteria • 4.0 GPA or higher is suggested • Strong ACT or SAT scores • Demonstration of exceptional achievement • Some examples are listed below 1. Valedictorian or Prospective Valedictorian 2. National Scholar (National Merit Semi-Finalists/Finalists, National Achievement Program Semi-Finalists/Finalists, National Hispanic Recognition Scholars) 3. National award or achievement, prestigious scholarship or fellowship, publication • Applicants must file for FAFSA/Dream Act – Note: Financial need is not considered in the selection process. Information is used for scholarship disbursement purposes.
CALIFORNIA STATE UNIVERSITY LONG BEACH How to Apply • Applications for the University Honors Program & President’s Scholarships will be available online starting February 1 st at www.csulb.edu/honors • Fully completed applications must be submitted by March 1 st to be considered for the President’s Scholarship • There will be a second round announced for partial scholarship (advised to apply in round 1) • Applicants will need the following: 1) A letter of recommendation 2) CSULB ID Number 3) Unofficial Transcripts in PDF version 4) A 1-2 page personal statement addressing the prompt provided on the application
