  1. Podpeška cesta 380, 1357 Notranje Gorice Invitation PRESENTATION OF THE PILE DWELLING CULTURE IN IG International Conference, Ig, Slovenia, November 13-14, 2014 (Educational Center for Civil Protection and Rescue - ICZR, Zabrv 12, 1292 Ig) Ig pile dwellings near Ljubljana lie in the heart of the Ljubljana Marsh Nature Park. They have been a part of the UNESCO World Heritage serial nomination since 2011. The presentation and interpretation of the heritage that is not visible on the surface and its correlation with nature is a strong need and a challenge on a local, national and international level. The conference aims to tackle this problem and exchange experiences on existing forms of pile dwellings presentation and their relationship with the natural environment. The conference will present some examples of presentations of pile dwelling culture from Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy. What is the role of new technologies in presentation? How to include heritage in the museum layout? What are the opportunities and challenges for the local community and its residents? How to combine the need for presentation and interpretation with protection of cultural and natural heritage? On workshops supported by experts, we will try to find possible solutions and methods of presentation and interpretation of the culture of pile dwellings in the Ljubljana Marsh. The two-day conference is intended for experts in the fields of archeology, interpretation, nature protection, development of tourist services, space planning, architecture ... and those who want to contribute with their knowledge and experience to the design of the interpretative center for cultural and natural heritage of the Ljubljana Marsh. The conference is provided by Ljubljana Marsh Nature Park in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO, Municipality Ig and Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia. Conference is free of charge but application is requested. You will find application form at the bottom of this document. They will be accepted on info@ljubljanskobarje.si until full capacity or until November 12 th 2014.
