HUTCHESONS’ GRAMMAR SCHOOL SPORTS STRATEGY 2018
INTRODUCTION Hutchesons’ Grammar School is a highly regarded campus at Crossmyloof, which was fully opened in 1960, with the aim of uniting the educational needs of the day with the intangible Hutchie ethos. The substantial grounds allowed for expansion with the addition of large external sports hall and gym in 1997. It also boasts the Alix Jamieson Stadium (completed in 2010): a world class facility with a contemporary floodlit Hockey pitch and international standard athletics track. Since the expansion of the sports hall in 1997, it has remained largely unchanged. This new development will see internal as well as external changes taking place.
Our Belief We believe that Sport in an integral part of a child’s education for the following reasons; • It helps bring pupils together. • It encourages team work, and individual personal achievements. • It teaches pupils how to accept both winning and losing respectfully. • It promotes a healthy lifestyle In an ever changing society, we feel that fitness is of high importance, and encouraging this at a young age is vital. Being able to offer bigger and better facilities will only help us reach these goals.

Key Points • The work is scheduled to start in early 2018. • We hope this will be complete by the start of session 2018/19. • There is a ‘Fitness For all’ Challenge Weekend organised for the 27 th and 28 th January 2018. An event for all pupils, parents, former pupils and staff to take part in. Watch out for details! • Any proceeds raised at this event will go towards the equipment for our new cardio gym. • All donations are gratefully received, however big or small!
