SPORTS FACILITIES STRATEGY PROJECT BACKGROUND • Strategic approach to facility development needed • Sport NI in partnership with Councils will deliver: – Sports Facilities Strategy for Northern Ireland – 11 District Council Area Reports PURPOSE • Framework for the prioritisation & development of facilities • Prioritise investment by a range of investors in sports facility provision

  4. 2. SPORTS FACILITY FUND £17.5m National Lottery Investment 1. PERFORMANCE Facility – Integrate the facility needs of community participants and high performance athletes within the same multi-sport environment. 2. SINGLE Facility – To develop sports facilities or purchase sporting equipment for community groups and individual sports clubs. 3. MULTI Facility – To develop new, or open-up access to existing multi-sport environments with four or more different sports facilities located at the one site.

  5. Single Facility (Budget c£2m) To develop sports facilities or purchase sporting equipment for community groups and individual sports clubs. Eligible Applicants: Community Groups, Sports Clubs and Schools. Award Levels: Between £10k - £100K % of Project Costs Funded: Up to 95% Process for Selection: Sports Development Need

  6. SPORTS DEVELOPMENT NEED Your proposed capital / equipment project will be based on the identified sports need within your club / area. Your sports development activities should increase participation in sports especially amongst under-represented groups. Your proposed project will facilitate your sports development activities.

  7. Early Warnings • Eligibility – no private businesses. • Previous funding – no substantial funding (more than £10,000) in last 10 years. • Funding Levels – partnership funding. • Security of tenure – 5 – 10 years.

  8. 2. Multi-Facility (Budget c£6.75m) To develop new, or open-up access to existing multi-sport environments with four or more different sports facilities located at the one site. Eligible Applicants: District Councils, Community Groups, Sports Clubs, Schools and Education Authorities. Award Levels: Between £100k - £1M % of Project Costs Funded: Potentially up to 80% Process for Selection: 1. Facility need identified in DC Area Report 2. Expression of Interest 3. Sports Development Plan

  9. AGAIN - SPORTS DEVELOPMENT NEED Your proposed capital / equipment project will be based on the identified sports need within your club / area. Your sports development activities should increase participation in sports especially amongst under-represented groups. Your proposed project will facilitate your sports development activities.
