  1. HFH of Kearsarge/Sunapee NH Area is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.

  2. As president, Jimmy Carter was deeply committed to social justice and basic human rights. He and his wife Rosalynn left the White House in search of meaningful ways to contribute in these areas. In addition to promoting peace and human rights through the nonprofit Carter Center in Atlanta, they lead the Jimmy Carter Work Project (JCWP) for Habitat for Humanity International one week each year. Jimmy Carter's involvement with Habitat began in 1984 when he led a work group to New York City to help renovate a six-story building with 19 families in need of decent, affordable shelter. That experience planted the seed, and the Jimmy Carter Work Project has been an internationally recognized event of HFHI ever since.

  3. We have built 18 new homes, 5 major rehabs and completed over 28 repairs including the construction of new ramps, helping over one hundred area people. In addition to our local projects we have help build several hundred homes in impoverished countries and areas devastated by natural disasters.

  4. The Kearsarge/Sunapee Chapter of Habitat for Humanity finished construction on its 18th house since 1988. This home was built in Wilmot by volunteers and finished just in time for Christmas!

  5. Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more safe, affordable homes for local families.

  6. We need your help! At this time, we are seeking building lots for future housing. Affordable lots that can be built on are becoming extremely costly. Please let us know if you are aware of some low cost or possibly donated building lots we could use (tax deductible donation) or if you would like to help us with a donation towards the purchase of future building lots. This is a great way to help Habitat and make a difference in the lives of others!
