What’s working well? • NEET and Not known support – top four of core cities in reporting. Not known is particularly a success, rated first in the country out of major cities. • Providing targeted programs of support designed for particular at risk and vulnerable groups of young people. • Developing new models of support. • Partnerships and links within the Council both within Economic Development and Children’s services colleagues – strength of relationships. • Relationships with schools despite reductions to support able to offer Challenges • Pressure on success rates in post-16 education has meant that some gaps in provision have started to emerge, particularly in entry/level 1. • Providing an ongoing high level of support to NEET and risk of NEET (RONI) young people despite continued reductions in funding and threat to services. • Pressures on schools leave many young people without careers support. • Demanding NEET and Not Known target despite ongoing cuts to funding. • Complexity of new funding often requiring “match” has left us with no further room for movement to attract funds requiring this.
What can the partnership do to support? • Support to identify partnerships of mutual benefit. • Continue to champion Futures and its services – ownership structure. • Consider areas where Futures could further play a part as part of our desire to develop our targeted and vulnerable groups offer. • Links to Futures for Business – opportunities to look at further developments. www.the-futures-group.com hello@the-futures-group.com 08000 85 85 20 Unlimited Possibilities
