BACKGROUND • About 16 to 18% of FTF earn less than a 2.0 their first semester • Approximately 800 FTF were on probation after Fall 2016. • The number of FTF on academic probation has slightly decreased from Fall 2011 15.9% Fall 2016 18.2% Fall 2014 16.9 % Fall 2013 18.2 % Fall 2012 18.6% Fall 2011
ACADEMIC PROBATION PROGRAM • Semester-long Program Since 2012 Mid-Year Academy (January 7) College-based Requirements could include contract, class, and out-of-class experiences Monthly appointments with Student Success Coach Goal: provide support toward successful degree completion
MID-YEAR ACADEMY (JANUARY 7) 1:30 TO 5:00 PM • Everything will take place on the Downtown Campus Bus Transportation from Evansdale Check-in and Information Fair Welcome by President Gee Advising Make an appointment with their Student Success Coach
ADVISING • Course re-scheduling • Appropriate D/F repeats • Degree progression • Change of major
LAST SEMESTER RESULTS (SPRING 2017) • 63% of the students on academic probation were eligible to return • 73% of the students who received success coaching were eligible to return after Spring 17
