  4. Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning ● Synchronous: Some students’ classes will be taught synchronous, meaning live and at a prescribed time on a daily basis. Administrators will regularly view and drop in on classes. ● Asynchronous: There will be assignments that require independent work on behalf of the students, this has traditionally been considered “homework.” Students will access teacher support during the “hub” time at the end of each day.

How to help your student succeed ACADEMICALLY Attend scheduled Zoom classroom meetings each period, ● every day Complete homework as assigned by teachers ● Study hour at home ● Use a planner: phone, wall calendar, etc. ● Encourage your student to take advantage of the Hub time ● Seek support from teachers and contact them early if your ● student is struggling

  15. When Your Student Is Struggling In Class ● STEP 1 - Student 1 on 1 Communication with the Teacher ● STEP 2 - Parent Communication with the Teacher/E-mail ● STEP 3 – Contact School Counselor or Assistant Principal

How to help your student succeed EMOTIONALLY ● Take breaks from watching, reading, listening to news ● Take deep breaths, stretch, meditate ● Eat healthy and get plenty of sleep ● Reassure them that they’re safe ● Let them talk about their worries ● Share your own coping skills ● Create a routine & structure ● Know when to ask for help

Wellness Center ● The Wellness Center works in collaboration with the Tiger Intervention Response Team (Counselors, AP’s, Nurse, Psych’s, Program Specialist) to address student in need of additional interventions and support. ● Wellness focuses on students needs in five areas: a. Mental Health b. Substance Use c. Truancy & Attendance Support d. Assessment & Referral e. Community Resource Referral

  18. Wellness Center ● Wellness services are offered in the following ways: a. Individual Services b. Small Group Counseling c. Crisis Intervention d. Consultation-teachers, staff and parents We know the pandemic has greatly impacted the mental health of students and families, please reach out if you are in need of support wellness@rjuhsd.us

NURSE ● What is the role of the Credentialed School Nurse? ○ Licensed Healthcare provider with a Health Services Credential ○ Provides health care services for students ○ Develops individualized healthcare plans for students ■ Can include the administration of medications ○ Contributes in the development of IEP and 504 plans ● Medications and medical conditions ○ Medication forms and procedures available on RHS website ■ Health Office tab under “about” tab on RHS page ○ Update Aeries Medical History for medical conditions ■ Will begin contacting families next week to address Individualized Healthcare Plans for students in DOL

NURSE Covid-19 updates and information ● Placer County is still on the State of California Watchlist ○ Current 7 day positivity rate for Placer Co. = 14.4% ■ Under 5% is goal ○ 14 day case rate = 92.9 (under 25) ○ Hospitalizations are continuing to rise in Placer Co. ● RJUHSD is implementing safety measures to ensure health and safety of campuses for students, families and staff. ○ Mask requirement as per CA state mandate ○ Social distancing measures ○ Wellness checks of staff, visitors and students (when permitted to return) will be conducted on a daily basis. ○ Visits to campus currently by appointment only
