Forskning i miljöekonomi vid EEU, GU Beteendeekonomi med värdering och experimentell ekonomi • Aim: Develop theory/models for better explanation of human behavior in social dilemmas • Purpose: Provide more relevant policy instrument recommendations. • Behavior concerning e.g. trust, social norms, identity and self image concerns, risk perception and risk regulation, discrimination and the influence of gender relations • What determines cooperation, in particular self-control, risk preferences and trust • How institutional design affects cooperation and resource use • Valuation • Methodology develop theory, laboratory and field experiments www.handels.gu.se
Styrmedelsforskning • Selection and design of policy instruments – Command and control (administrativa, rättsliga styrmedel), – Economic policy instruments (e.g. taxes vs tradable schemes), – Information disclosure, labelling (informativa styrmedel) – Regulative compliance, enforcement and monitoring, sanctions (genomdrivande, övervakning och tillsynsstrategier) • Indicators and criteria for design and evaluation of policy instruments (target achievement, efficiency, cost-efficiency, distributional effects, political acceptability ethics and fairness) www.handels.gu.se Externa relationer 2012- 11-16
Styrmedelsforskning • Examples of research projects. Design for: • Linking of tradable schemes • Design of combinations of policy instruments • Multiple pollutants • Discounting (sectoral and relative prices) • Risk and (deep) uncertainty • Incentives under behavioral approaches (e.g. relative income) • Experiments on enforcement, monitoring and verification www.handels.gu.se Externa relationer 2012- 11-16
Leading donors of EEU research • Sida - Efd environmental research centers (Köhlin) • Formas - Human Cooperation to Manage Natural Resources joint with RFF, New York University, Indiana University (Sterner) • Mistra Indigo - Climate policy design joint with RFF, IVL (Löfgren) • EU FP7 - Valuation and strategies for future global changes under uncertainty joint with LSE, FEEM, TSE, IIASA, PIK (Hennlock) www.handels.gu.se Externa relationer 2012- 11-16
Selected Applied Research Themes: • International climate policy design • Agriculture - Sustainable Land Management (Africa) • Fisheries (Africa, Asia) • Forestry (East Africa and China), REDD • Climate Change Climate change adaptation (South of Sahara) • Parks & Wildlife (Förvaltning av naturskyddsområden e.g. Central America) • Valuation of ecosystems services www.handels.gu.se Externa relationer 2012- 11-16
