  2. What is Concurrent Credit? Concurrent Credit Courses – courses that will only receive college credit. No high school credit will be awarded. Concurrent courses must be approved by the high school.

Concurrent Credit Eligibility • Available with permission from your high school each semester for every course. • Students complete the entire Collin College admissions process along with a permission form prior to registration. • Must meet college readiness standards as defined by Texas Success Initiative (TSI). • Student must meet Collin College academic requirements to continue in the concurrent credit program.

Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act FERPA  Similar to HIPAA law  Federal law that ensures privacy of student educational records ( begins when student starts college regardless of age )  Collin College cannot share grades, course schedules, test scores, etc. with parents  A great opportunity for students to learn the college process and take on new responsibilities * Waiver is available via CougarWeb

Application Tips • Create an account (non-ISD email preferred) • List your SSN • Under Intended Academic Goal, select YES to Dual Credit • Select Major** • Residency/tuition is decided based on your answers on the application and the documentation you provide, if requested. • Student will receive their Collin ID number (CWID), email address, CougarWeb username and password in 3-5 business days.   14. What is CougarWeb? Students will receive CougarWeb login 3-5 business days AFTER application has been submitted. CougarWeb is an online portal that includes all of the information and access to services that students need, while attending Collin College. - Add/Drop class - Online trainings - CougarMail - Pay your tuition - Access online courses (Canvas) - Check Collin College class schedule - Grades - And MUCH MORE…

  16. What is a HOLD? • A hold prevents registration. • Students are able to view holds via their CougarWeb account. • Each admissions step is listed as a hold, so all steps must be completed prior to registration. For more information about resolving holds, please visit www.collin.edu/dualcredit

  17. How Do I Check for HOLDS on My Account? Instructions • Log into your CougarWeb account • Click Student Tab • Click on View My Holds

High School Permission Form Smith Jasmine N 100555555 You have to Plano Academy HS June 2021 X 20 complete the online application  ENGL 1301  ECON 2301  to Collin College MATH 1342 and obtain your HS Counselor Signature CWID BEFORE you can return this form to your counselor. Student Signature xx/xx/xxxx Parent/Guardian Signature (if under 18) xx/xx/xxxx Must be completed each semester before the student will be allowed to register. A form is required for all concurrent credit courses.

Official High School Transcript • The counseling office will provide high school transcripts on your behalf after the Dual/Concurrent Credit High School Registration Permission Form is signed. • Collin needs the most current high school transcript for every new student. – Does not have to include final fall grades . • Your Plano ISD transcript includes test scores that may provide a TSI exemptions/waivers. • Students who have completed coursework with another college must provide the official college transcript to Collin College.

  21. Texas Success Initiative (TSI) The TSI is a measure of college readiness. Students need to have a TSI waiver or exemption on file. The next six slides will detail the TSI Assessment, TSI waivers, and TSI exemptions.

TSI Assessment • The TSI is designed to measure college readiness in reading, writing, and mathematics. • It is used for course placement purposes. • Students must be at college level in reading and writing for the majority of courses. • See the college catalog for placement and prerequisite information: https://www.collin.edu/academics/catalog.aspx

TSI Exemptions Exemption Scores (minimum scores listed): Combined/Composite Exempts TSI Reading & Test Exempts TSI Math Requirement Writing Combined Reading and Math: Reading: Math: SAT 1070 500 500 (Before 3/2016) SAT Evidence Based Math: NO Combined/Composite Score Reading/Writing (3/2016 and 530 Needed 480 After) Composite: English: Math: ACT 23 19 19 Partial exemptions allowed provided that the required combined/composite score is met. For more information on exemptions, please review the Collin College New Student Checklist or visit www.collin.edu/dualcredit.

  24. Official Scores Needed for TSI Exemptions Contact College Board or ACT student website and have them send your official score report directly to Collin College. It takes approximately 11-12 business days for Collin College to receive and process official scores . ACT Collin Code: 4046 SAT Collin Code: 1951

TSI Waivers Temporary Waivers for Dual Credit Students (minimum scores listed): Waives TSI Combined/Composite Waives TSI Test Reading and Requirement Math Writing ACT- English: Math: N/A Aspire 435 431 Combined Reading and PSAT Reading: Math: Math: (Before Oct. 50 50 2015) 107 Evidenced Based Math: PSAT (After N/A Reading/Writing: 510 Oct. 2015) 460 Algebra I: English II: 4000 and at least STAAR N/A 4000 a final grade of 70% in Algebra 2

  26. TSI Waivers Scores must be on an official document from the high school (e.g. transcript or HS letterhead). For more information on waivers, please review the Collin College New Student Checklist or visit www.collin.edu/dualcredit.

TSI: What Will I Need to Do? • Complete Pre-Assessment Activity (PAA), print certificate of completion. • Review email from assessments@Collin.edu regarding testing procedures. • Pay cashier or online, the cost is $29. • Walk-in to test at any campus Testing Center during testing hours. You need to bring your receipt, a picture ID, and PAA certificate of completion. You won’t need to bring a calculator. • See an College & Career Counselor to review your results.

  28. Bacterial Meningitis Vaccination Concurrent Credit students taking classes at any Collin campus MUST provide proof of vaccination within 5 years, documentation of an exemption if they under the age of 22. The vaccination must be administered at least 10 days prior to start of entering term. Concurrent Credit students taking classes at their high school campus are eligible for an exemption by completing a Request for Exception Form.   29. Mandatory Campus Safety Training Students will be required to complete training prior to registration. Student will complete training via CougarWeb. How to Access Training • Log into CougarWeb account • Go to the Student Tab • Click Mandatory Campus Safety Training • Complete quiz with a 100% score and be sure to click submit at the end

Registration Instructions For Dual Credit Classes at High School/College Campus • Log into CougarWeb • Go to New Registration Tools • Click on Student Registration • Click on Register for Classes • Select Credit Spring 2020 term • Click on Enter CRNs tab • Enter the specific CRN for your designated course • Click Add to Summary • Click Submit
