B&W are currently one of the only IS O 9001:2008 accredited electrical and instrumentation contractors in S ub-S aharan Africa. An Employee Trust established in S eptember 2006 owns a 7% stake in the company benefiting employees with more than four years uninterrupted service, with an emphasis on black staff (75%of benefits). B&W is a comfortable ‘ Level 4’ contributor in terms of the draft Department of Trade & Industry’s BBBEE Codes of Good Practice.   18. Training In response to the skills shortage in S outh Africa B&W has invested substantially in the training of field labour to increase its skills pool. B&W has its own fully equipped in-house training centre based in Alberton and is an accredited service provider through Construction S ETA. B&W has implemented training programmes in line with accredited S AQA unit standards to advance employee skills and ensure trainees receive an accredited qualification. To determine the appropriate skills development required B&W provides ongoing on-the-j ob assessments. In addition long-term incentives ensure retention of core staff.
