Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral What is the role of a Local Pharmaceutical Committee (LPC) • develops, negotiates, discusses pharmacy services and engages with health bodies • supports community pharmacy contractors to ensure that all aspects of contractual requirements are fully understood and implemented • builds local relationships with commissioners to ensure appropriate consultation before changing existing arrangements or commissioning new services, including • Health and Well Being Boards, CCG’s, Local Authorities
Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral CPCW • Is the local organisation for community pharmacy which is funded by a statutory levies paid by all contractors (there are 299 within the footprint) • Consists of 15 members, with proportional representation from both the independent sector and the CCA companies (multiples) • Is an independent and representative group • Is available to give advice to community pharmacy contractors and others • Will liaise with • 4 Health & Well Being Boards/4 Local Authorities (Public Health) • 6 Clinical Commissioning Groups • Local Professional Network • Local Representative Committees and neighbouring LPC’s

Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral New Service Specifications EHC contracts - new PGDs for Levonorgestrel • ( and Ulipristal Acetate - Cheshire East and Warrington) Introduction of Declaration of competence (DoC) Cheshire East and Cheshire West • Contractor is responsible for ensuring their pharmacists are accredited to provide the service • Contractor holds copies of DoC Certificates and signed copies of PGDs & Specifications Warrington and Wirral • forward documentation as defined in service specification.
Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral Declaration of Competence ( DoCs) Change from a process requiring “Accreditation” to deliver a service to one which requires self- declaration. Developed by CPPE • – Accessed from CPPE website Model supported by RPSGB, PSNC and Pharmacy Voice
Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral Services Covered Emergency Hormonal Contraception Minor Ailments Alcohol services Chlamydia testing and Treatment 19 th May Substance Misuse and Needle Exchange • Other services to follow include; Stop Smoking, Oral contraception, Weight management, NHS Health Checks, Cancer Awareness and Screening, Care Homes
Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral Process for Self-Declaration Check the service specification states a requirement for self declaration of competence Access the DoC for the service and complete the necessary training. Complete the self assessment form • ( www.cppe.ac.uk/services) Print the Self Declaration certificate and sign.
Community Pharmacy Cheshire & Wirral Minor Ailments Cheshire East - developed service to include a greater number of medicines at level 2 with PGDs. Improved fee structure Launched with training event 6 th May and aim to have all pharmacies delivering by 30 th June Think Pharmacy logo to advertise the service Next steps • Develop existing scheme in Cheshire West • Services commissioned in Wirral and Warrington.
