  8. Dress Code Very positive start! We are very pleased. There is deliberate variation in our uniform from the rest of the school. They look smart and ready for hard work each day. Finally, things to consider… This year is very intense and there will be tears along the way  Please support your child by encouraging them to communicate with us as much as possible  There will be plenty of distractions for the students! Please support us by reinforcing our expectations  If they have a part time job, please ensure that they keep their hours to a minimum – school comes first (mostly)  Let us know – exam arrangements and difficulties  If you have any concerns, please make contact – we will! UCAS Predicted Grades & Future Destinations th Oct • Letters went home on 10 10 th ctober: UCAS predicted grades are now available their UNIFROG account • A timely opportunity to ask them to show you their application progress • If going to university: Where are they with shortlists? Do they know what they want to study? Do they have their 5 choices? • If not, what apprenticeship shortlists have they created on Unifrog? What is available?

University Application: Key Dates • Friday 14 th October – deadline for final draft of personal statement to E4L teacher via Unifrog. • Personal Statement workshop at school 3.15 - 4.15pm on Thursday 13 th October with admissions tutor from Cardiff Metropolitan University. Sign up in the HE HUB • University of Gloucestershire are offering a free personal statement masterclass on Wednesday 12 th Oct, 4-6pm (places limited). Can sign-up by emailing outreach@glos.ac.uk

  17. University Application: Key Dates • Monday 31 st October – UCAS form should be ready to ‘pay and send’. The earlier applications are sent the better as not all universities stick to UCAS guidelines of keeping places before their 15 15 Jan January ry dead adli line • Applications must be received by the end of November so that references can be added and processed in time to meet UCAS deadlines. • Student finance is yet to open (normally around Feb. / Mar.). Information will be relayed via E4L lessons. Some flyers are here tonight from Student Finance.

Exams The first test week has already gone – 26 th Sept Results of which will be in R1, published Friday 4 th November Mock examinations will take place week beginning 30 th January Most A Level exams will take place in June into July (consider AS module retakes) - dates are non negotiable Any special considerations regarding exams will need to be applied for in advance so make us aware of anything as soon as possible
